BMW reveals new turbo engine
BMW is set to unveil its first turbocharged petrol engine for a road car in more than 30 years.
The 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine uses twin turbos to produce 306bhp and 295lb ft of torque, and it will be used in the 3-Series.
By using two smaller turbos instead of one large one, BMW reckons it has eliminated turbo lag, and it also helps spread the generous torque between 1,500- and 5,800rpm.
BMW will show off the engine at the Geneva motor show alongside the new 3-Series Coupe, and BMW insiders say the new Coupe with this engine will be called the 335i.
