World Premieres at Ford and Opel - European Premiere of the VW Touareg R50

Many New Products and Services in the Tuning Sector too
In its anniversary edition in the fair halls in Essen on December 1 9, the 40th Essen Motor Show can come up
with world, European and German premieres.
The following world premieres have been announced:

  • Ford with the Ford Focus ST, the new sporty top model in the Focus series
  • Opel with the Astra OPC Nürburgring Edition, a limited number of which will be built
The following vehicle is being presented as a European premiere:
  • VW Touareg R50 which, with 350 hp, is one of the most powerful offroad vehicles in the world
The other new models on display include:
  • Audi RS6 Avant which will be at the dealers as from April 2008
  • Bitter Vero, the new sports saloon
  • Skoda Fabia Estate Scout, study on the basis of the new Fabia estate
  • VW Passat in the R Line design
World premieres in the tuning section:
  • World-record vehicle Brabus S V12S Biturbo on the basis of the Maybach 57
  • Maserati MC12 Corse on Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT
  • the estate version on the basis of the new Mercedes C class from Carlsson
  • the Tiguan offroad vehicle from Abt
  • the 500 Cup on the basis of the new Fiat 500 from MS Design
  • the Opel GT sports car from Irmscher
The other new refined and tuned models on display include the following makes:
Audi (R8 from PPI), BMW (M3 from AC Schnitzer), Porsche (Cayenne from StarTech), Renault (Twingo
    from Elia) and Volvo (Heico).
The fair was founded in 1968 on 7,000 m2 as a sports and racing car exhibition where it was possible to see
the successful racing cars in that year. 57,000 visitors came. About 400,000 visitors are expected at the
anniversary event on December 1 9, 2007 - and over 550 exhibitors are presenting their products and
innovations on an area of 105,000 m2. These figures alone show the positive development. The fair has long
since become far more than a motor sport festival. Automobiles, tuning, classic cars, design and accessories
are the other keywords. In the sector of tuning and sporty vehicles, it is even regarded as the industry's largest
and most important trade fair anywhere in the world.

With Nick Heidfeld, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Giacomo Agostini

Essen Motor Show is Celebrating an Anniversary

Current and Historic Formula 1 Racers on Display
The Essen Motor Show is celebrating an anniversary: This year, the global fair for automobiles, tuning, motor
sport and classic cars features in the calendar for the 40th time. The celebrities who have announced that they
are taking part in the opening ceremony on November 30 include Nick Heidfeld (the best German Formula 1
driver at the moment) and the legend Hans-Joachim Stuck (the automobile racing driver whose career ran
parallel to the Essen Motor Show in all the past decades). And a living legend from motorcycle sport is also
present, i.e. Giacomo Agostini. With 15 titles, the Italian is the most successful rider in World Championship
history.
The fair was founded in 1968 on 7,000 m2 as a "pure" sports and racing car exhibition where it was possible
to see the successful racing cars in that year. 57,000 visitors came. About 400,000 visitors are expected at the
anniversary event on December 1 9, 2007. An exhibition area of 115,000 m2 is available. These figures alone
show the positive development. For a long time, the fair has no longer been a "pure" motor sport festival.
Automobiles, tuning, classic cars, design and accessories are the other keywords. In the sector of tuning and
sporty vehicles, it is even regarded as the industry's largest and most important trade fair anywhere in the
world.
Nevertheless: Motor sport is playing an outstanding role in 2007 too. For example, it is possible to see not
only the most successful Formula 1 racing cars of the year (beginning with the Ferrari of the World Champion
Kimi Räikkönen via the McLaren-Mercedes of the newcomer Lewis Hamilton right up to the Sauber BMW of
Nick Heidfeld) but also the victorious DTM car of the Audi works driver Mattias Ekström or the Audi R10
successful in the 24-Hour Race in Le Mans.
A particular treat for the motor sport fans is a special show with 15 successful racers which have made motor
sport history as from 1968 - Formula 1 racing cars, Indy cars, sports cars and touring cars with which
(amongst others) the World Champions Graham Hill, Nelson Piquet, Niki Lauda, Nigel Mansell, Mika
Häkkinen or Michael Schumacher were on the road.
The new "Motor Sport Mile" was established in 2006 - an absolute hit: As a central meeting place, it went
down equally outstandingly with active motor sportsmen and sportswomen and with fans. Automobile clubs,
trade journals, racing series, racetracks and associations are represented in the "Motor Sport Mile". The Motor
Sport Innovation Center is new for 2007.
As a meeting place for active motor sportsmen and sportswomen, former racing drivers, sponsors and fans, the
fair is considered to be the most important date at the end of the season throughout the scene. Not least for this
reason is the sentence uttered by the ex-ADAC Sport President Wilhelm Lyding still valid: "Essen is the last
Grand Prix of the year and the meeting place of motor sport".
