The Tokyo Auto Salon prides itself as being the biggest car show in the world, showcasing 600 different cars under the flags of 300 different companies. Not one to miss a fine showing, Mazda touted its product line with a booth display of 13 different vehicles- the crown jewel being the Mazdaspeed RX-8 Circuit Trial Edition.
As the name suggests, the car is a fully track ready edition of the already capable RX-8. Mazdaspeed pulled out all the stops by equipping the rotary flagship with their entire product line. That’s right, any Mazdaspeed product you can buy for the RX-8 comes installed and ready to roll with this car, thus delivering a machine that is fully capable to handle the rigors of a thrashing at the circuit.
The most noticeable upgrade on this car is the custom aero kit, which gives the updated 8 a more aggressive demeanor, and delivers upgraded stability at high speeds. Mazdaspeed also improved the car’s already sublime handling by upgrading the brakes, suspension, and adding larger aluminum wheels wrapped in Yokohama’s newest Advan AD08. Though the footwork is tuned for time attacks at the track, Mazdaspeed ensures that it’s also supple enough to ride around town. Not to mention that the body kit makes the car look even better for a cruise around town.
Here's to hoping that Mazda will come out with a supercharged version for the horsepower junkies out there.
