A l'occasion du SEMA show, Corvette et le préparateur Pratt et Miller ont concocté un concept qui préfigurerait une Corvette à la sauce 911 GT3, pour les track days!
Vu comme ça la Corvette me paraît bien plus intéressante car dans sa version routière je la trouve trop imparfaite au niveau finition.
Chevrolet teamed up with Pratt & Miller, partners in Corvette Racing, to design the Corvette Z06X concept. The goal was to showcase how enthusiasts can turn a production Corvette into a track car.
“This concept car represents a midpoint between our GT race car and the production Z06,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer.
The powerplant is the LS7 7.0-liter V-8 engine that is upgraded with a low-restriction air-intake system, high-capacity radiator and a racing-specification cooling system. The engine is mated to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission.
Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes provide the stopping power. The suspension is upgraded with adjustable stabilizer bars, mono-ball control-arm bushings and coil-over struts with adjustable camber plates.
The exterior is modified to reduce weight and to make the Z06X concept competition-ready. Upgrades include the CFZ carbon-fiber-option package -- front splitter and rockers, adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing and ZR1 carbon-fiber roof panel and B-pillar panels.
Weight reduction continues with a carbon-fiber hood, carbon-fiber headlamps housings from Specter Werkes/Sports, lightweight racing wheels and a polycarbonate rear window.
The interior is stripped of the radio, carpeting and sound-deadening materials, leaving only the racing seat. Safety upgrades include a roll cage, window net, five-point harness and fire-suppression system. Other modifications include a driver's drink system, roll-cage-mounted video-camera system and a racing-pedal kit.
The Z06X concept has a low-gloss icy white metallic paint job. It is accented with red trim, exposed carbon-fiber body components and black wheels.
“The exterior color and accents were carefully selected to enhance the Corvette's racing-influenced design, but there's nothing superfluous in the Z06X's design. Everything is there for a reason,” said Dave Ross, design manager.
