noreuh: Oh thanks!!! My french is a little rusty at the moment as I have not been in France for so long (the last time I was there was in 2002 I think when I left Royan!!!) but I am sure it will improve with time!!! But I will ask you on anything technical.....so expect a lot of private messages!! Out of interest, what qualifications do you need to teach in France?
I did work as an English Assistant in Royan for a short time and had hoped to maybe teach English in France one day
P.S If you ever forget any english words just let me know too!!!!!
No problem at all, and please do not hesitate to correct me as well.
Well you need to take (and pass of course) a competitive exam which is called CAPES to become a teacher. But there are a lot of candidates and only a few jobs. When I took it 4 years ago we were about 6/7,000 candidates and there were about 800 jobs available . Needless to say that it was pretty hard and I missed it by 2 points. But I managed to teach anyway in a private school in Belgium but I was fed up cuz I was working freelance and it was miles away and I was doing the commute everyday. So I left and went to Luxemburg (I live about 45 kms away from the border) but it was freelance again and they only offered me like 6 hours a week. I know that teaching here in Luxemburg is good money but still
Now I've been working as a payroll officer but I must say that I still miss teaching. I'll ask one of my friends, he's British and studies at the University of Grenoble and I guess he might be giving some English lessons. I guess you can try the English Institute or any private school or English assistant. Or just PM if you want to!
Jimmy a écrit :thanks a lot
ironically, in the UK the education system is desperate for french teachers ! ! !
I will look into it, I am taking a "Teaching English as a Foreign Language" course this year so it might help with maybe doing some private tuition
merci!
Yeah I know and I heard about the massive teachers strike as well....I wish I could live in your country, I just love it and I usually go and visit my 'host' family at least once a year (I was an au pair in London). Had I been single, I guess I would have lived and taught in the UK. But London is way too expensive (but I still love it! )
You're welcome! Sorry but I'm not going to be helpful improving your French
