Thanks Baphi.
Was a beautiful day.
We missed Rugissante ,but it was nice to meet vcoil.
First 2 sessions were wet (no rain but wet road) and the grip was very limited due to the cold conditions.
The 3the session was almost dry.
The speed in my group was very very high.
Arround 30 911 GT !!
I was about the slowest car in group C...
Duez means normaly much Seat's, but not this time.
I had a very scary momemt , when a 911 complete overshoot the last chicane before start/finish and only the screaming noise of his locked tyre's led me to steer away from him as he passed straight on at the right side.
Just as I turned right.....
Than I mounted the Michelin slicks and the worked perfect.
Ceacil (with her white RX 8} and Rembranbt did arrive and Andreas and me took them for a drive.
Caecil took a lot of picture's and I will post them later.
My best lap (with Caecil in the car) was 3.17,3
Andreas (2006 M3 with roadtyre's) best lap was 3.08,9
The eau rouge could be driven full trottle.
Max speed exit radillion is 167 kmh when cutting the corner very much and 158 kmh when staying on the track.
The topspeed at the end of the straight is 181 kmh.
So I only gain 14 kmh over the whole straight......
All due to the fucking gearbox/gearing.
The new 2009 RX 8 has a shorter differentialratio:
4,777 in stead of 4,444.
That is 7,5 % shorter.
It cost arround 600 euro plus mounting costs.
I have a adress if someone wants that.
More easy is mounting 17 inch rims with low profile tyre's
But on my RX 8 that is not possible due to the big disc's
Max speed at the back "straight" up to the last chicane is 185 kmh.
The last session , I took an instructor in the car.
He found that I throwed the the car too much arround.
More rallye-style....
At the end of that slow session (he was constantly slowing me down) the tyre's where completly covered with pick up.
And that was not the case at the other sessions.
The black RX 7 had Belium plates and he brought a big fanclub along.
It was a right hand drive and he drove in group B.
If he drove.. , because he was working a lot on the car,
He took several times the sparkplugs out.
The hood was very thin plastic that was simply mounted with tape..
Vcoil was very interrested in more trackdays and in improvements of the RX 8.
Here the the info about the Evo trackday:

If anyone still wants to drive at Spa this year, look here:
Skylimits events (normaly operating at Zolder) organises coming friday (31-10-08) a trackday.

(when you look at the film you will also see me driving at Zolder)
And here the info about the racecat (100 cels) that I have mounted:

I suppose it is also on this forum.
Caecil's white RX 8 is just visible on this picture:

Outjer, thanks for the long report
Waiting for the pictures.
Ceacil changed cars ?! from the picture I looks like the RX_8 Mk2 ?!?!
I know about the Skylimits event this friday
I wished I was there I have a lot of friends going
but tooooo much work !
I might go saturday to the Lotus Event ... also a lot of friends
nice report !
I am just surprised that at the end of the long straight line after raidillon you only get to 181, I remember to have reached 199 km/h with out speed of Raidillon of around 150 km/h

She did not change cars , she bought a few months ago an RX-8 HP 40th Anniversary Edition Arachneweiss Metalic 2008
So now Ceacil has 2 RX 8 !!
One red from 2004 and one white from 2008 (plus a mazda 3 diesel)
This picture was made at her wedding.
That took place on 8-8-08.
Here the thread:

Remember that I drive the 192 version.
And the 5 speed gearbox is not good on the track.

Tsar a écrit :Outjer, what is really the problem with the gearing/gearbox ?
some times it's a bit rough or is it you think the gears are too long ?
The gears are too long (also for the 231 cv, but I think I have also a problem with the cat.)
For instance
The final 41/8 (5.125) was used (and now only produced) by the AstraTeam for the RX8 cup (but IMHO too short and need to much gear shifting).
FEED Fujita Engineering produces a final Gear Set of 4.77 (ops the same as adopted by Mazda).
Tsar a écrit :Outjer, what is really the problem with the gearing/gearbox ?

Yep,
Much too long.
In 4 gear driving at 180 kmh means about 6300 revs.
That means I use only about 150/160 hp of the 192 hp.
That means the seat diesels, etc, etc fly by...
Everytime I go uphill I am praying for the end of the straight...
You could easely improve by using 17 inch rims.
Tyre size for instance 225/40-17 or even 225/35-17.
But with my big breaks (360x30 mm) that is not possible.
Minimum is 18 inch.

Now I've understood!!!
Outjer what kind of monster...
It will be not better to set up a Brembo racing 328mm/28mm or some stuff like that and use, for instace, the 245(or 225)/35 17'' on the oz ultraleggero?
This setup, I think, might reduce drammatically the rotating mass, the wheels are more lightweight, I think the tires too, and also less inertia.
What do you think about?
vcoil a écrit :FEED Fujita Engineering produces a final Gear Set of 4.77 (ops the same as adopted by Mazda).
yep, heard about it but what about the top speed when driving the autobahn (i do top speed at least once a year .... in france ), if i lose just 10-15 kph ok but not more ?
(i ve got 19 wheels for daily and now slick michelin n22 on my 18 wheels, could be nice to test them again at spa but one "exploded" last time at magny cours after 15 minutes ).
Monsters?
http://forum.rx8nl.com/cgi-bin/mwf/topi ... er%20power
I mounted them 2 years ago and dispite the size I needed after 1,5 years new discs.
So did Ben (He had 355 mm AP-Racing)
When you mount slicks or semi slicks and you drive on short circuits (like Zolder) the heat is immens.
Even with 360 mm discs.
When you try really hard you can wreck them.
Stock RX 8 discs are 224 x 24mm.
Brembo 228 x 28 is certainly better, but I am not sure it is enough.
Your proposal of using 17 OZ is good.
But with your 6 gear box on the 231 version I think you have not so much problems with the gearing as me.
