PLEASE DO!! how the fuck is this going to fly? it makes NO sense! here we are paying 70K before taxes for an ultimate "supercar" (according to Nissan), and they won't allow us to drive with VDC off? what a load of bullshit... how did this rule pass?
Firstly, I'm not sure that everyone (including myself) is reading the disclaimer from Nissan the same. To use launch control requires deactivating VDC, correct? If something broke as a result of using the car without the VDC on, Nissan could choose to not cover the cost of that repair? Using the car with VDC off wouldn't void your warranty coverage of something unrelated to it, like a power window or something. However, if you did use your car without VDC, say one time or even numerous times, then later on some part in the transmission broke (that is known to be a part stressed more by having VDC off) couldn't Nissan say it wouldn't cover the repair (parts and labor)? So, if using VDC off and having a failure of this part can be related to not using VDC (and they couldn't prove one way or another what caused the failure) I'd think they would default to your lack of using VDC that "could have caused" the current problem and then they arent' liable for its repair.
Secondly, if VDC off is part of using launch control and Nissan is well aware of this and the warranty issue when giving the car to magazines (to test, hopefully do well with, and then sell cars) shouldn't they have mentioned this to the editors of these magazines? Instead, it's like they were told what to do to get the best numbers (and thus the best press and comparisons with the car) but were not given the fact that if you use launch control on the car (i.e., VDC off) and something breaks (again, related to having VDC off) that it isn't covered. I've never read from any review about this. Even though "launch control" is being marketed to car magazines (and then the public) as a feature of this car? Opinions?
