TGTV Series 15: starts 27 June

Posted by TopGear.com at 12:21 pm on Thursday June 10, 2010

Set your alarms, ready your Big Red Pen upon your calendar, order your tattooist to create a permanent mirror-image reminder upon your forehead in three-inch letters: we have the Official Start Date For Series 15 of TopGear and we shall reveal it…

Ready?

8pm on BBC Two on Sunday June 27.

That’s it. Right there. You probably thought you already knew it, what with all the rampant speculation flying around the internet. But you didn’t. Not Officially, anyhow. But you do now. You can tell it’s official. It has a full stop and everything.

We’ll have plenty more information on what to expect from Series 15 over the next few weeks. Just as a teaser, though, how do you like the sound of modified motor homes, the real story behind the Reliant Robin, the death of the Chevrolet Lacetti, a race between the VW Touareg and a pair of extreme snowmobilers… and the Stig doing some bad things in a Bentley Continental Supersports?

Richard Hammond – wee lad, white teeth – is most looking forward to the something a little less extreme, however.

“The emotional tribute to the British sports car is silly but fun and, I think, has some genuinely touching moments as we were the best in the world at making sports cars,” says Richard. Don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of overly horsepowered, wildly expensive metal hitting the track, too.

“We’re going to hit every single supercar as well,” Richard tells us. “In truth nobody’s buying them right now, but it doesn’t make any difference because it’s mostly a feature for the 10-year-old in all of us that just wants to look at the new Ferrari 458 or R8 Spyder…”

So that’s Series 15 of TopGear, kicking off at 8pm on BBC Two on Sunday June 27. Join us.

In this BBC special "James May on the Moon", James May from Top Gear U.K. is taken on an emotional ride to the edge of space in a U-2 spyplane. I took this version from the Patricks Aviation file sharing site - well worth a look http://www.patricksaviation.com/

Cette émission a été diffusée sur la BBC2 il y a un an. Très chouette.

Je recommande aussi la série d'émission sur les jouets. ;-)

Top Gear programmé pour enregistrement, dès fois que j'oublie  :D

TG telly bossman Andy Wilman was going to write a few words about the new series today but he’s deep in the edit suite preparing the first show and can’t be disturbed, unless you’re offering a way to cut 45 seconds out of all the over-running VTs. Or some crisps. He likes crisps.

Anyway, as you might have noticed there’s a brand new series of TopGear starting this Sunday on BBC2 at 8pm if you’re in Britain, or a few minutes after 9pm UK time if you’re one of those people abroad who cheekily downloads the show off some illegal BitTorrent website. Don’t look guilty and fiddle nervously with your mouse cable. We know what you’re up to… :siffler:

So, what to expect on your TV screen (or computer monitor slightly after 9pm BST if you live in Boise, Idaho) this coming Sunday? Well, we genuinely listened to your criticisms of the last series. Andy even wrote a blog about it, explaining in a very clever way why TopGear had inevitably lost its innocence. (He’s actually a very clever man, is Andy. Although you might assume otherwise if you saw him eating a bag of crisps. Imagine a pig inside a cement mixer full of Quavers. That’s what he looks like.)

We had A Big Meeting to talk about the future. The phrase ‘back to basics’ was bandied about. But the truth is that ‘basics’ for TopGear these days is as much about Clarkson, Hammond and May mucking about as it is about testing cars.

If we went back to a pure petrolhead show we’d receive as many complaints as we do every time something falls over or catches fire. So don’t expect earnest chats about double wishbone suspension and a man in a woolly pulley taking 20 minutes of your time to explain how a camshaft works. But with more of a run-up than we had for series 14, I’d like to think we’ve put more thought into this one, daftness and all.

Come back later in the week for more details. And a picture of Wilman eating crisps.

In August 2010, several British national newspapers reported on an allegation made by The Sunday Times that Collins may be one of the identities of The Stig—an otherwise unidentified character on the Top Gear show—on the basis of financial filing made by the Collins Autosport company.[2][7] On 1 September 2010 the BBC was refused a court injunction preventing the revealing of The Stig's identity in Collins' autobiography, published by HarperCollins.[8]
