Ca a été le grand débat de la fin de la saison dernière.

J'aime assez le show comme cela : Un mélange de magazine de voiture et de conneries en tout genre.

Le show "botswana" était assez caractéristique d'un show qui est devenu de "l'entertainment" avec des voitures plutôt que l'inverse.

Et j'adore ca. ;)

C'est aussi la raison pour laquelle je lis des magazines d'infos comme "CanardPC" ou "Joystick" : On parle d'informatique, mais c'est surtout une grosse raison de déconner et de dire "caca prout". :D

A propos du Show, vous avez vu le test de la Caparo T1?
Waw, c'est bien la première fois que Jeremy Clarkson indique qu'une voiture est "presque inconduisible".
Il fallait visiblement des grosses c* pour piloter une voiture de ce genre.

Je suis un gros fan de ces emissions depuis pas mal d'annees (depuis la nouvelle version de top gear en 2002 en fait :P).

C'est vrai que moi aussi je trouve que le show devient un peu lourd par moment car il n'y a pratiquement plus du tout de tests de voitures "accessibles". Ca ne m'empeche pas de ne louper aucun episode pour passer une heure de bonne rigolade :)

Fifthgear permettait de voir les tests plus serieux, mais le gros soucis c'est que Fifth gear depuis 2 ans essaye de ressembler a TopGear, sans en avoir les moyens financiers... Du coup ils font de moins en moins de tests, et de plus en plus de conneries a la topgear... sans arriver a avoir le cote "drole"... je preferais quand c'etait plus serieux chez fifth gear !
Deplus on voit bien que Tiff et Jason ne font plus vraiment parti de l'emission, ils sont plus la en guest star une fois de temps en temps, sans interragir avec les autres desormais :(

Ah j'en serais presque a regretter l'epoque ou Tiff et Jeremy etaient tous les deux chez top gear :D

Lewis uncut
With Lewis lapping our test track, it's a huge weekend for Top Gear - and we're following up with some exclusive video clips on Monday morning.

Not only will we bring you another excellent instalment of the highly acclaimed News Uncut, but we also plan to deliver all the bits from the Lewis Hamilton interview they couldn't show on Sunday's show. If Ron Dennis will let us...

Well, Lewis Hamilton came down to our windswept airfield, put all thoughts of his 850bhp F1 car to one side, and climbed into the next best thing, our mighty Suzuki Liana.

As regular viewers will know, we retired the Liana from Reasonably Priced Car duties a few series back, but we keep it on standby for the odd occasion when an F1 driver pops in.

He scowled when he saw the wet track, because any chances of beating the Stig's time of 1.44.4, done on a dry track, were out of the window. Also there was oil dotted around, pissed out by the Vauxhall VXR8 that we'd lapped earlier in the day.

Now regarding this oil business, conspiracy theorists, pull a chair up, because Lewis's job was to set the fastest wet time on the Top Gear F1 board, and the only other wet time belongs to Mark Webber, who's Australian.

Well you don't need to be that brainy girl on Scooby Doo to work out that the night before Lewis's lap, Mark, having seen the weather conditions for Dunsfold, has driven down to Vauxhall's press garage in Luton, scaled the walls, broken in and loosened something or other on the VXR8, and it being an Australian car, he knows which bit to loosen and where the oil is and everything.

Anyway, Lewis took his tuition from the Stig very seriously, then we set the stop watch and sent him off. The lap time you'll find out if you watch Sunday's show, but I will say I've been in the edit for two days since we recorded the show, and I still keep replaying his second to last corner, because I've never seen a piece of driving quite like it. The world is governed by the rules of physics, but he just seems to have his own set.

After the show I drove home from the recording, still thinking about Lewis. This isn't unusual in itself, because I'm normally turning over a guest's appearance on the show, deciding about which bits of the interview to drop, which to leave in etc. But on that drive I was just thinking about Lewis himself.

Like most people I've seen what he can do on the track, but it's only when you meet him that you get a sense of the force that seems to drive him. It's not that he's intense - in fact it's a while since I've met a 22-year-old so polite, or an F1 driver so aware of what's going on around him - it's just that he literally seems to have some Jedi force pulsing through him.

He will obviously go on to make hundreds of millions in his career, but he's one of the few I'd believe when he says the money doesn't matter. Like Schumacher and Senna, he's connected by an invisible thread to a race car, and racing it is his reason for being here.

Whilst he was signing some books before the interview, I reminded him he'd once said that if he died on the track, then so be it, and he just nodded and carried on signing as if I'd asked him if he was having cold turkey on Boxing Day.

The other thing you notice is he's so self-sufficient for a 22-year-old. Most F1 drivers need more maintenance and nannying than the car, but he doesn't seem to need anybody. In the interview, in Clarkson's backyard, he sat opposite one of the most confident broadcasters in the world and scored some cracking blows when the banter kicked off.

Jeremy asked him about girls and living the James Hunt life, and Lewis didn't want to go there, but I've never seen a question so beautifully deflected and kicked off into the weeds; John Humphrys would struggle.

During the break after Lewis's interview, a couple of us from the Top Gear office were having a fag round the back of the hangar, and he joined us for a chat. He asked if he could come back and set a dry time, and we thought he was just being polite, but you could tell he meant it because he was saying how if the appointed day was wet, the deal was he could cancel, but if it was dry, he'd be there.

The three of us were standing looking at him thinking: "Won't you have more pressing issues on your mind next July, like Silverstone or Monza?"

But as far as he's concerned, there's unfinished business at Top Gear. Bollocks, we'll have to cancel the Chuckle Brothers.

And revenge. Don't forget the revenge.

Then at 8pm it's the one you've been waiting for: the Top Gear series finale triste

, which sees the boys pit the new BMW M3 against the Merc C63 AMG and Audi RS4 in the triple test of the year. James also gets to try out the new Jaguar XF, David Tennant is our Reasonably Priced Star, and a defenceless G-Wiz is transformed into a radio-controlled car.

At 9pm it's the Hamster's turn in Richard Hammond meets Evel Knievel. Richard spent four days in the company of his childhood hero this summer, just before the legendary stuntman's death, and found time between comparing crashes to film this poignant documentary.

Finishing off the night, Jeremy hosts Have I Got News For You at 10pm. Find out whether JC can keep control of Paul Merton and Ian Hislop for half an hour... and at 10.30pm you're finally free to make a break for the toilet. It's only the football on after.

Series 11. Who'd have thought eh?

We were talking about this very thing in the office the other day, about how we used to try and predict how long the show would run for when we brought it back in 2002.

I remember declaring with massive authority that we'd peak around Series 3, and then slide gracefully into oblivion.

Brian, our studio director, told me I was talking arse and said we'd keep climbing up to Series 5, and only then would the Job Centre beckon. Everyone has chipped in with different punts along the way, but thankfully we're all quite thick and our Mystic Meggery has been way off.

Then - it was a busy day - we started talking about how we'd eventually bring Top Gear to a close. We all agreed quite quickly that the cool thing to do would be to kill the show whilst it was on top - take a leaf out of Wham's book or copy Fawlty Towers and just walk out the door before it all gets stale and sad.

That way we could hold our heads up and say we left behind a body of work that was quality all the way, instead of grimly clinging on as the viewing figures and our dignity tumbled.

Quitting whilst you're ahead is a hard path to take - one that requires courage, integrity and moral backbone - which is why in the end we decided to abandon that idea and just keep churning it out until we've outstayed our welcome.

However, although we're spineless we do try our best. But since it is getting harder and harder to come up with new stuff, a few months ago, as the new series loomed, we did something we've never done before - we decided to have a brainstorm.

I'm talking about a proper one like businessmen do. You know, book a hotel with conference facilities, everyone out of the office, mobiles off, agenda for the day, tea, biscuits, whiteboards, the lot.

Looking back, I can't say it went brilliantly. We'd picked a hotel just off the M1, and I mean just off: exit at the junction, right at the roundabout, straight down a road for 2 miles and the hotel is on the right. You'd have to be a muppet to get lost.

At 10.30, half an hour after the appointed start time, James rang and said he was lost, going round in circles in Watford. Jeremy meanwhile, in honour of the brainstorm, had brought along a laser pointer for the power point presentation, with which he managed to blind the waitress bringing in the tea and coffee facilities.

Eventually we got going and item one on the agenda was me kicking off with a little speech. I thought it would be a good managerial thing to do - a few words about how far we'd come, what we'd achieved, and then when everyone felt praised and motivated, smoothly changing gear and outlining the tough tasks that lay ahead - continuing our guardianship of a great TV brand, eyes of the nation upon us, that sort of thing.

I finished and looked round the room. Silence, as the significance of my words sank in. Finally, Jeremy was the first to speak: "Who fancies coming for a tab?"

Eventually we really got going, and item two on the agenda was the news section of the programme. "Be ruthless," I ordered. "Don't be frightened to kill your babies, blue sky the moment, no idea is a bad idea," etc.

So we all thought about it and after a while decided we quite liked it as it was.

And then Richard suggested that during the news, the presenters themselves - instead of the trained technicians in the broadcast trucks - should have control over pulling up the pictures and cueing all the stuff on the screens. Now plainly this is a terrible idea, but since it was already midday and the first idea we'd had, we all voted in favour.

And so the day went on. We looked at every aspect of the show, decided we quite liked those bits as they were as well, and then went to the pub.

Think of the forthcoming series then as a familiar friend, your favourite old jumper that brings comfort, warmth, and things you've seen before. The day wasn't a write-off by any means though, because we came up with a new character, a bit like the Stig, but not like the Stig, who hopefully does exciting stuff for everyone's amusement.

We worked out a plan for tweaking the guest spot, we decided we'd get some new chairs, and on top of that we dreamt up some good ideas for films. Most exciting for me is that we've finally come up with another big race - you know, car versus something or other.

The last time we did one was a couple of years ago, with the plane against the Veyron, and in hindsight we lost the plot in that one - too pompous, too overblown and preposterous, too much work on the scripting to make it funny. This one is back to basics, more hardcore, mega car, mega opponent, with a solid premise. And a clue for the geeks: we did it in Japan.

Elsewhere, we've tackled rural issues such as the fox hunting ban and fascist ramblers. With the ingenious use of cars, we go to war, literally, with a German version of Top Gear (which incidentally means Sabine is back) and there's a very exciting shootout with the RS6 against the most suicidal of skiers.

Jeremy also reckons he has an ingenious plan for improving British police cars, so we'll be testing that theory, and we've always said you can't be a true petrolhead until you've owned an Alfa, so now it's time to put our money where our mouth is.

There's some good metal too - new Evo X against the Impreza, CLK Black and hopefully the Mazda Furai. Overall though, the other thing we're going to do is try and speed up a bit.

We've looked back over the last two or three runs and noticed that a whole programme can get swallowed up by one monster film - a bit like one of those Yes albums from the 70s where side one is just one track - so we're trying to calm down the prog rock side.

Actually a band analogy is a good one here. I was reading the other day how REM had spent ages recording previous albums and tied themselves in knots in the process, but that their latest one was knocked out fast, with short sharp songs that don't outstay their welcome.

We'll inevitably still have big films, cos it's the only way you can enjoy the three of them cocking about together, but they'll be shorter overall, and alongside them we'll be inserting some quick two or three minute punk songs.

Update 1: Siska Schoeters van Studio Brussel belt tijdens haar uitzending met het Circuit van Zolder en ontdekt dat Top Gear er inderdaad donderdag test en filmt. Het circuit zal evenwel gesloten zijn voor pottenkijkers, maar dat betekent niet dat er geen glimp van de Audi R8 TDI te vangen valt. Hoe de DJ van Studio Brussel weet dat het om de dieselversie van Audi’s superwagen gaat (waar slechts één exemplaar van bestaat), is niet bekend.

Update 2: Het gesprek van Siska is onderhand beschikbaar op StuBru.be.

Update 3: Verschillende stemmen op AutomotivePhotography en Autoforum melden dat zowel het café/restaurant De Pits alsook het Wheels Café een mooi uitzicht op Terlamen bieden. Andere kijkplaatsen genre openbare weg aan de Jacky Ickx-bocht en de hoofdingang zouden nauwelijks toegankelijk zijn door zwarte doeken op de afrastering. En dan is er natuurlijk nog de afbeelding die een Autoforum-lid vorig weekend op het circuit kiekte - met de bovenste auto om te sturen en de onderste voor de pedalen. Classic Top Gear dus.

Update 4: Her en der verschijnen berichten over een mogelijke annulering van de filmwerken. Een hopeloze poging om ons van het circuit te houden of trieste realiteit? Oordeel zelf: “Beste, als medewerker op Circuit Zolder moet ik jullie met spijt in het hart meedelen dat de opnames van Top Gear helaas niet doorgaan deze donderdag. Het circuit was normaal voor hen volledig privaat afgehuurd. Maar aangezien ProMove, Skylimit events en een schoolevenement genaamd “Fasten your Seatbelts-day” ook op die dag plaats vinden hebben de producers van Top Gear beslist om de opnames naar een andere datum te verplaatsen. Zij wensen volledige privacy. Naar verluid zouden volgens hen de drifters ook te veel lawaai maken en een storend item zijn voor hun opnames. Aangezien dit normaal geheim moest worden gehouden zal Circuit Zolder geen officieel persbericht versturen omtrent de (tijdelijke) annulatie van Top Gear. Wij zijn alvast op zoek naar een andere datum in ons drukke schema.”

Update 5: Het enthousiasme waarmee ze de zaak onderzocht, deed al iets vermoeden. Maar nu blijkt de 26-jarige Siska Schoeters ook nog eens een fervent octaanliefhebster!? Andere StuBru-presentatoren die Top Gear vrijelijk in hun programma vermelden, zijn er immers niet - laat staan dat ze de namen van de presentatoren kennen. En daarmee heeft ze op deze pagina’s meteen een serieus beentje voor …

Héhé.

Ca dit en gros que le circuit de Zolder sera(it) fermé demain car l'équipe de top gear fera l'andouille dessus avec une Audi R8 tdi.

Mais comme il y a une vague compétition de basket dessus, ils pourraient reporter le tournage à une autre fois.

Het circuit was normaal voor hen volledig privaat afgehuurd. Maar aangezien ProMove, Skylimit events en een schoolevenement genaamd "Fasten your Seatbelts-day" ook op die dag plaats vinden hebben de producers van Top Gear beslist om de opnames naar een andere datum te verplaatsen. Zij wensen volledige privacy. Naar verluid zouden volgens hen de drifters ook te veel lawaai maken en een storend item zijn voor hun opnames. Aangezien dit normaal geheim moest worden gehouden zal Circuit Zolder geen officieel persbericht versturen omtrent de (tijdelijke) annulatie van Top Gear. Wij zijn alvast op zoek naar een andere datum in ons drukke schema.

Sinon, je ne sais pas ou j'ai été chercher un truc sur le basket alos que l'on parlais d'un evenement scolaire "fasten your seatbelt"... (le paragraphe que tu cites)
